Isaias Alejandro Morales Delgado: “Pulquero” Alebrije Paper Figure
$845.00 - Collector Price
Only available until tomorrow morning. Ships direct from Mexico. An exciting new artist for us. A few years ago we introduced you to the mechanical folk art of Josue Eleazar Castro. Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to the work of Izzy Morales from Guanajuato. He is an amazing talent in the field of traditional paper alebrijes and he has developed a wild imaginative modern style all his own. He has been working with paper art since he was 6 years old. Now in his early thirties, he competes in national competitions with his award winning work. These pieces are highly labor intensive and like Josue, he works exclusively on one of kind fine art wonders rather than taking a mass produced commercial approach. It has paid off for him and he has developed into a well respected artist nationally.
This piece is a prime example of his fantastical work. We see a continuation of his fantastical street vendors. This one features a pulque seller. Pulque is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant. It is traditional to central Mexico, where it has been produced for millennia. There are a few images reviewing some of the details and the process. The little sign says he does not offer sales on credit and it has a saying that is similar to the idea english equivalent of – a bad dog is not born, but made – In this case it literally means the donkey was not naturally gruff it was made that way.
Note these pictures do not do this justice and the detail in person is amazing. This is exclusively available direct from the artist and ships DHL international within 3-5 business days. Price of shipping is included. Don’t miss out as this is also available at his gallery in Mexico and it is first come, first serve.
