Josué Eleazar Castro: Pez con Calaveras/ Fish with Guitar-Playing Skeletons

We are excited to have another rare batch of work from Grandes Maestros Award Winning Artist Josué Eleazar Castro. We had the pleasure of being the first to introduce the work of Josué to the U.S. market, and we are so happy for his success. He quickly outgrew the need for our support, and it is always a great feeling to know that an artist is succeeding in his/her dream. His work always sells quickly, folk art museums have bought up his work, and he is frequently a winner in many different art categories, including Mexican toys and cartonería. He has also presented at several recent International Folk Art shows in Santa Fe. We have watched his work evolve over time. He became known for his mechanical pieces but recently introduced static pieces. He is recently exploring mixed mediums using traditional recycled paper and cardboard as a base while adding wood and clay to create even more elaborate designs.

As always, Josué makes you smile whenever you see one of his magical creations. Although not made for children, they will still bring out your inner child. Josué (pronounced hoe-sway) is in his thirties and has an educational background in mechanical engineering. He trained under well-known Mexican paper mache artist and teacher Osvaldo Ruelas Ramirez. There is great detail and creativity in making these creations come to life and they rarely last long as collectors do love them.
