Michael Wisner Gray Mata Ortiz Style Basket Weave Bowl

Michael Wisner’s ceramics represent a bridge between ancient Southwestern pottery and the innovative Mata Ortiz tradition. Trained directly under Juan Quezada, a major founder of the modern Mata Ortiz movement, Wisner mastered the aspects of traditional clay work—from hand-dug clay to pit-firing with natural pigments. His distinctive style fuses geometry with ancestral Pueblo influences, resulting in elegant, highly detailed vessels. Wisner’s work is known for its precision and geometric patterns. Because of his craftsmanship, and unique style, Wisner’s pottery is sought by collectors and featured in galleries, and private collections.
